Cetirizine STADA® 10 mg

 

Pack size:

Box of 5 blisters x 10 film-coated tablets.

 

Composition: 

Each film-coated tablet contains cetirizine dihydrochloride 10 mg.

 

Shelf-life:

36 months from the date of manufacturing.

Store in a well-closed container, in a dry place, protect from light. Do not store above 30oC.

  • For the management of seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis  and chronic idiopathic urticaria.
     
  • Taken orally regardless to meals.
    Adults and children 6 years of age and older:
    The usual initial dosage is 5 or 10 mg once daily, depending on symptom severity.
    Patients with hepatic or renal impairment:
    Dosage of cetirizine should be reduced to half the usual daily dose.
    In patients 77 years of age and older:
    A dose of 5 mg once daily is recommended.
     

Or as advised by physicians.

 

  • Patients with a known hypersensitivity to cetirizine or any ingredient of the drug or to hydroxyzine.

     

  • Common
    The most common adverse reaction is somnolence. The incidence of somnolence depends on doses.
    In addition, the drug also causes fatigue, dry mouth, pharyngitis, vertigo, headache, nausea.
  • Uncommon
    Anorexia or increased appetite, urinary retention, flushing, increased salivation.
  • Rare
    Haemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, severe hypotension, anaphylactic shock, hepatitis, cholestasis, glomerulonephritis.

     

  • The occurrence of somnolence has been reported in some patient taking cetirizine.
  • Concurrent use of cetirizine with alcohol or other CNS depressants should be avoided because additional reductions in alertness and additional impairment of CNS performance may occur.
  • Pregnancy: Because there are no adequate and controlled studies to date using cetirizine in pregnant women, cetirizine hydrochloride should be used during pregnancy only when clearly needed.
  • Lactation: Cetitizine is distributed into human milk. Therefore, use of cetirizine hydrochloride in nursing women is not recommended.
  • Antihistamines can cause drowsiness in some patients. Although this has not been reported with cetirizine at the recommended dose please be cautions whilst driving or operating machinery.
